Marcel.
This morning was a misty early walk around town with new friend Marcel.
Marcel and I met on Instagram a few weeks ago and decided to meet up, take a walk and shoot some photos together. It was bloody freezing so of course we stopped by Society Cafe before getting started. Hot choc > almond milk. Done.
Unless I’m shooting portraits, photography has kinda been a bit of a solitary hobby for me, especially during lockdown on my strolls around the block. Having someone to shoot with was a lot of fun and we were both spotting compositions and weird little moments that the other might have missed. I’ve recently been shooting all my non-portrait work on the 50mm F2 which has been great as I love the compression and tight framing but chose to go back to the 35 F2 incase there was an opportunity to sneak in a portrait while Marcel was finding his own shots. Luckily, he was nice enough to let me take a proper one before we finished up for the day which i’m really happy with. My actual favourite shot of the day is the image of Marcel crossing the road in the mist, backlit by the sun. Cold, misty and grey days aren’t usually my thing but the combination of all the three things created this really nice soft look to the shot, I love it.
